INESC TEC signs agreement with Brazilian institution
On 16th April, INESC TEC signed an agreement with the Guamá Science and Technology Park (PCT Guamá) in Brazil for technical cooperation in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Sustainable Development and Energy.
During the ceremony, José Manuel Mendonça, president of INESC Porto and Vladimiro Miranda, director of INESC Porto and president of INESC P&D Brazil (under formation) represented INESC TEC and the Guamá PCT was represented by its president, António Abelém.
This agreement is part of an attempt by researchers at the UFPA (the Federal University of Pará) to create an INESC P&D Brazil branch in Belém and the PCT’s desire to base this branch at its headquarters, placing it in a strategic position between two universities – the UFPA and the Federal Rural University of Amazônia (UFRA). The aim is to share synergies and develop science and technology transfer and promote technology based company incubation (one of INESC TEC’s areas of expertise).
PCT Guamá is a technology cluster formed to promote a new development model based on innovation for the economy of the Pará State. The aim of this partnership is to produce more diverse science and apply this knowledge in companies in the region.
