CRACS organises Spring School with TACC
In the context of the UT-Austin|Portugal Programme, the Center for Research in Advanced Computing Systems (CRACS) organised the Spring School in Advanced Computing TACC @ UP 2009, together with UT Austin’s Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), which took place in the city of Porto on 28 and 29 May.
LIAAD participates in international workshop on Data Mining
The Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) is involved in the organisation of the 3rd International Workshop on Knowledge Discovery from Sensor Data, which will take place in Paris on 28 June 2009, in the context of the ACM-SIGKDD 2009 – Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, the most important annual conference on Data Mining.
Researcher from CRACS is guest speaker at ICLP'09
Paulo Moura, researcher from the Center for Research in Advanced Computing Systems (CRACS) will participate as guest speaker in ICLP'09 - 25th International Conference on Logic Programming, which will take place in Pasadena, California (USA), from 14 to 17 July 2009.
Researcher from CRACS receives "Best Presentation Award" at ICLP'2008
Vítor Santos Costa, researcher from the Center for Research in Advanced Computing Systems (CRACS), received the "Best Presentation Award" at ICLP'2008 - 24th International Conference on Logic Programming, which took place from 9 to 13 December, in Udine, Italy.

LIAAD organises COMPSTAT international conference
The "International Conference on Computational Statistics - COMPSTAT'2008" will take place at the Faculty of Economy from the University of Porto, from 24 to 29 August 2008. The people responsible for the organisation of this event are Maria Paula Brito, Adelaide Figueiredo, Pedro Campos and Luís Torgo from LIAAD - INESC Porto LA (Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support).
Researcher from CRACS visits the University of Berkeley
Eduardo Marques, researcher from CRACS – INESC Porto (Center for Research in Advanced Computing Systems) has visited the University of Berkeley in February, in the context of his doctoral work on the design and implementation of programming languages for embedded systems.
LIAAD with collaborator in Brazilian bank
Luís Torgo, researcher from LIAAD – INESC Porto LA (Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support), was invited by the “A Caixa” Brazilian bank (www.caixa.gov.br) to give a 30 hour intensive course on programming environment and analysis of R data. The course took place last December.
New LIAAD project approved by FCT
LIAAD - INESC Porto LA (Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support) had one of its new projects recently approved by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The Rank! Project was coordinated by researcher Carlos Soares.

CRACS starts STAMPA and CALLAS projects in 2008
CRACS - Center for Research in Advanced Computing Systems, INESC Porto’s most recent member, had two of its projects approved by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The projects are called STAMPA and CALLAS and they will start being worked on in 2008. The work on these projects will last three years.
Projects from LIAAD approved by FCT
