The Unit has a large experience in the design and development of innovative solutions for the optimization of cutting of 1D, 2D and 3D figures, for example for the optimization of raw material utilization, and the optimization of 3D packing, for example for the optimization of the loading of trucks. Industrial solutions have been developed for the textile, paper, wood and metalworking industries.

The Unit has also a very strong scientific background and its expertise is recognized internationally. The Unit has organized several international workshops.
